My drawings and paintings are primarily narrative and are influenced by the works of the WPA artsists of the early/mid 20th century (i.e. Diego Rivera, Paul Cadmus, Georgia O'Keefe). These artists were charged with the task of creating public art such as murals and pamphlets using imagery of daily American life. Their work, amd my own , is characterized by an exaggerated development of form and structure as well as selective removal of unimportant details.
I draw my inspiration from my own daily life, stories told to me by friends and family and themes used by artists throughout time. I rarely make anything that does not have at least some kind of reference to human beings and our daily interaction with each other and the worls aroung us.
The paintings you see are done in oils. The drawings are a combination of dry media (i.e. charcoal), acrylic gel and oil paint..
