Artist's Statement

The works in the exhibit are recent brush drawings mostly of plants and small-scale sculptures of human figures. In her rapidly executed brush drawings, Karine captures the essential character of objects through a simplicity of means using just black paint on paper and strokes, shapes, and composition to capture the essence of the subject.

Karine lives and works in Boston. She studied in Moscow, Russia: Carrara, Italy: and Boston, USA where she earned her BFA in Painting and MFA in Sculpture: both from Boston University.

Karine will have a solo exhibition from January through March 2007 in John Joseph Moakely Boston Federal Courthouse, Boston, MA where she will display her life size sculptuers made of plaster and paint.
